Today's Hang Free is Cancelled!
Well, it looks like the weather does not want to cooperate with us, with rain and scattered thunderstorms predicted through Wednesday. So unfortunately, we are canceling today's Hang Free.
A quick thanks to all of our volunteer DJ's, we'll have you back again at our next event. Sign up on our new mailing list to be informed of our next event on Monday, May 27th, 2013!

On Monday, September 3rd - Labor Day, 2012, we'll be having our
final Hang Free of the 2012 season. We expect to be up and running by noon
on Monday, and going until dark (probably around 7pm). Directions to
our location in Fairmount Park are at the right.
Hang Free is a free, bi-annual outdoor party that occurs in Fairmount
Park in Philadelphia. We provide DJ's spinning music in an outdoor,
casual atmosphere, where there is no cost to hang and listen.
This year, we're very happy to have some (new) old friends at Hang Free.
This labor day our DJ guests include the usual equipment-dragging resident, DJ Under along with assorted DJ guests including longtime supporter DJ Linda Leigh spinning an extra-long tag-team set with her friend DJ D.R.E.O.. Back from a worldwide tour, we are graced with an old friend, from Cafe Chimosa, DJ Jugo. Wrapping up our Labor Day lineup include DJ Josh Stahl returning from his last visit in 2008 and long-time guest-now-DJ (but always a great musician) "Shok" Kantor!

We're fully aware that the Made In America Tour will be happening over the weekend, but this shouldn't affect us on Monday. Hopefully the concert crowd will leave Fairmount Park in better condition than when they showed, but we'll see on Monday!
Each Hang Free guarantees some sport & fun (such as touch football or
frisbee or volleyball) with friends and soon-to-be friends. Over the
years, we've become more pet-friendly and child friendly, offering
play for all ages and a friendly welcoming crowd. Plus, you get an
eclectic soundtrack to picnic your day away with Philadelphia's
hippest DJ's and sound makers.
It's hard to say a week away, but the weather predicted for next
Monday predicts isolated thunderstorms, 84 degree weather, and a 7:28pm sunset. If it rains
on Monday, we will probably cancel Hang Free due to the weather.

What fun Hang Free was this year! We were beset with a prediction of thunderstorms, but nary a cloud even threatened our day. It was, however, one of the hottest days we've had, with near 90-degree temperatures. Still, we have plenty of photo documentation of the day, along with a new feature to allow you to correct our poorly worded captions, or simply identify yourself in the photo.
As always, we have a variety of DJ sets from the day, available to download in MP3 format. Thankfully, all of the sets turned out great this year, and we look forward to enjoying them again and again as the years go on. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate (somewhat) with us this year, with the weather predicting a warm 89 degree day, with a 20% chance of scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. We're going to risk an occasional thunderstorm and head out to the park. It's going to be hot today, so bring plenty of water to stay hydrated, big hats to protect your head and ears from sunburn, and (obviously) sunscreen! See you in the park!

On Monday, May 28th - Memorial Day, 2012 (Happy Birthday Ryan!), we'll be having our
first Hang Free of the 2012 season. We expect to be up and running by 1pm
on Monday, and going until dark (probably around 8pm). Directions to

(he spun our first Hang Free 17+ odd years ago...), along with first-time guest DJ Ion
putting down his handsaw. We'll also enjoy the return of DJ Jack Tripper, as he
steps out from behind the bar to behind the decks for us. It's no accident we're asking
DJ Accidentally Andrew back, and resident DJ Under's ex-housemate
DJ Chris Udoh (of the famed Wamdue Kids) rounding out our lineup this Memorial Day Monday!
