Directions:
Leaving Center City, go down West River Drive past BOTH lights, and just after you go under the Strawberry Mansion Bridge (metal structure with a glowing neon light underneath it), we're on the left in the large grassy field. We'll be the ones with a small white tent and DJ's playing music. We should also have this banner:
This is about a half-mile back from Fells Bridge. If you drive, there is parking in two lots (on the left and right sides) just ahead, one in front of the West River Drive pavilion, and the other just across the street.
It's around 4 miles from center city, so why not bike/rollerblade out? Wanna see a map?

It's almost 9am on Labor Day here in Philadelphia, it's been raining overnight and we're looking at a chance of thunderstorms and rain showers for the rest of the afternoon. Therefore, we'll be canceling today's Hang Free due to weather, as no one will want to sit on wet grass. This has been our 4th cancelled Labor Day event in as many years - Sorry!A quick thanks to all of the DJ's who were booked to come spin for us today, hopefully, you can rejoin us at a future Hang Free next year. Feel free to tune into the DJ Sets from our Memorial Day event or peruse our photos for nostalgia, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year in Fairmount Park!

Next Monday, September 1st - Labor Day, 2014, we'll be having our final Hang Free of the 2014 season. We expect to be up and running by noon, and going until dark (probably around 7pm). Directions to our location in Fairmount Park are at the right.
Hang Free is a free, bi-annual outdoor party that occurs in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. We provide DJ's spinning music in an outdoor, casual atmosphere, where there is no cost to hang and listen.
We haven't had much luck with Labor Day weather in the last few years, so please check our website for last-minute updates, including a final announcement at noon on Labor Day Monday.
As usual, equipment-dragging promoter/scribe DJ Under will play for the special early arrivers. It's not a Hang Free without resident DJ Linda Leigh, who promises to play beautiful lovely music that will float in the outdoor breeze. Returning from 2007, DJ Wicket will probably grace us with more funky drum and bass. This time, we promise to get a better recording of his set. Back after over a decade, DJ Meeshu will again grace us with a magical house set. We're looking forward to seeing and hearing him again! Wrapping up our Labor Day festivities will be legendary DJ Lee Jones, who has been DJing for longer than Hang Free has been around, and behind hundreds of events here in Philly, including the long-running Sundae (11 years!).

Each Hang Free guarantees some sport & fun (such as touch football or frisbee or volleyball) with friends and soon-to-be friends. Over the years, we've become more pet-friendly and child friendly, offering play for all ages and a friendly welcoming crowd. Plus, you get an eclectic soundtrack to picnic your day away with Philadelphia's hippest DJ's and sound makers.
It's hard to say a week away, but the weather predicted for next Monday predicts 80 percent chance of rain, and a 7:32pm sunset. If it rains on Monday, we will cancel Hang Free due to the weather. Please bookmark and check our web site for last-minute updates as Monday approaches, and definitely post our last update at noon on Monday with the weather prediction..Bring Good Friends, Blankets, a Picnic, Good Attitudes, Frisbees & Hackysacks - Don't worry about the Cost - Just Hang Free!

The weather looks like it's going to cooperate with us this year, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 80's.
We've double-confirmed all of our DJ's and timeslots, and hope to present an eclectic soundtrack to while away your first day of summer! We're glad to have the great help from Ricky Modglin, who'll be assisting us with transporting all of our PA gear, and saving us from renting a not-so-cheap hourly van.
We should be up and running by 12:30, and we'll be playing music until 8pm tonight! Bring Good Friends, Blankets, a Picnic, Good Attitudes, Frisbees & Hackysacks - Don't worry about the Cost - Just Hang Free!
